HANDBOOK FOR EMERGENCY STATE CONDUCT Sector for Emergency Situations of the MUP Serbia - Ministry of Interal Affairs with the support of the OSCE, published earlier this year, "Family manual for behavior in emergency situations", which is apart from Serbian printed in minority languages in English. The Handbook presents all the protective measures and picturesque descriptions of how to behave when fire breaks out, in the case of floods, earthquakes or other disasters. Manuals are in Serbian, published in Roma, Albanian, Hungarian and English. Head of the Sector for Emergency Situations Predrag Maric said that the manual should be distributed through local government and urged local authorities to take that obligation. He pointed to the lack of safety culture in Serbia and wondered why children in schools learn that there are earthquakes and rivers, and do not learn how to protect themselves from an earthquake or floods. Maric said that so far 52,000 printed manuals in Serbian language, and 12,000 in other languages of minorities and in English. "Our goal is that in the near future, every house in Serbia has its own copy of this manual," Maric said.
